COVID Update: 12/16/2020

Dear Esteemed Staff and Family Members,

We are happy to announce that we have partnered with CVS Pharmacy to come down to the facility to administer the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine for residents and staff at Morris View.

We do not have a facility clinic date as of yet, but we will notify you all once the date is known to us.

They will be coming to Morris View on 3 separate days.

It is a 2 step vaccine.

Vaccination is optional and in no way facility mandated.

Unit managers will be reaching out within the next few days regarding the decision on vaccination. Consents will then be emailed by unit managers to families wishing for loved ones to obtain the vaccine.

Please see FAQ and CDC education on the vaccine in the links below so you can familiarize yourself with this.

Please feel free to reach out to myself, Shanell, or Caitlin if you have any questions or concerns.

Stay safe and healthy!!

Sincerely yours,

Ralph Gottlieb

COVID Update: 12/1/2020

Dear Esteemed Staff and Family Members,

Hope you are all doing well today and happy December 1st!!!

We received an updated directive from the Department of Health yesterday (11/30/20) with the following new guidelines:

  • All staff must be tested with our Rapid Covid-19 test kits every other day.
  • All vendors/visitors (end of life) must be tested each time they enter the facility and may not go up to the units until the result shows negative.

This directive is a “pilot” test by the DOH and will last until December 14th.

If you have an end of life visit, please be mindful that you may not enter until we have the results of your test.

To schedule an outdoor visit, please call or email Daria at d.cohen@morrisview.com.

Thank you in advance for your assistance in keeping our residents and staff safe!

Sincerely yours,

Ralph Gottlieb, Administrator

COVID Update: 11/29/2020

Dear Esteemed Family Members,

Hope you are staying positive by testing negative!!

As we anticipated, we received notification from the Department of Health that the “COVID-19 Activity Level Index (CALI)” was updated and our region is now classified as an “Orange Zone.” Unfortunately, this means that we have to restrict all indoor visits until Morris County is back in a “Yellow Zone.”

We understand that the holiday season is upon us and this will be very difficult for our residents and families. We are doing everything we can to make this time as enjoyable as possible under the circumstances. We have identified an area that can work well as an indoor/outdoor visit. The area is located on the left side of our building. Follow the sign for deliveries and you will find parking in that area. You can walk up to the entrance which is covered from above and on three sides. The resident will be sitting inside our heated corridor.

Since this is a very limited area, visits will be scheduled at 15-minute intervals to accommodate all the residents we have here. Appointments are still necessary.

We will continue to send out updates as they come in. We sincerely hope that the case numbers go down and we can get back to the regular indoor visits.

We did get receive one positive COVID result on a staff member who was immediately rapid tested two times and the results were negative; however, we have followed all precautions and sent that staff member home. This staff member is asymptomatic and has had minimal to no contact with residents.

To schedule a visit with a family member, please reach out to Daria by emailing d.cohen@morrisview.com or calling 973-285-2865 and leave a voicemail.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me for anything at all by emailing rgottlieb@morrisview.com or calling 973-285-2821 and leaving me a voicemail.

Thank you and have an enjoyable and safe Thanksgiving!

Sincerely yours,

You can park there and follow the path to our backyard patio and meet your loved one who will be waiting at the appointed time with a staff member at least 10 feet away from the fence.

ALL VISITS:

  • Only 2 visitors are allowed during each visit.
  • Residents that are on isolation precautions are unfortunately not allowed to come out of their rooms; visitation will need to be postponed until transmission-based precautions have been discontinued. Unit Managers or Daria can find out that information for you.

To All Residents, Staff, Family Members and Visitors

As coronavirus (COVID-19) becomes a worldwide concern, we would like to update you on our efforts to protect all of our residents, staff, family members, and visitors. While the New Jersey Department of Health advises that the risk to the general public remains low, healthcare workers and residents are at elevated risk of exposure.

Based on this knowledge the following measures have been implemented:

    • Staff education (COVID-19 and infection control: hand washing, transmission-based precautions, etc.)
    • Restricting visitors (in extenuating circumstances, e.g. end of life visits, the administrator alone may authorize an exception to the visitation policy). Phone and video calling will be available as means of communication with your loved one, at your or their request. )
    • Visual alerts: signs and posters at all entrances)
    • Increase in hand sanitizer stations, hand soap and personal protective equipment)
    • Frequent disinfecting of common surfaces including railings, elevators, doorknobs, etc.)
    • Daily contact with the local health department)
    • Careful screening of new admissions)
    • Screening of ALL staff (fever, cough, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, recent travel, contact with suspected cases)

If anyone (resident or staff member) presents with fever and acute respiratory illness, without an alternative explanatory diagnosis (such as influenza) and with no known exposure to COVID-19, the local health department will determine whether the individual will be considered “under investigation” for COVID-19.

As more information becomes available, we will continue to communicate with you. We are available to answer any questions and/or concerns. Updates are obtained regularly from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), New Jersey Health Department, and local agencies. It is important that we all continue to keep residents and ourselves as safe as possible.
